GonzoGeek vs. The Oscars 2010: Best Supporting Actor

The 82nd Annual Academy Awards are just three weeks away, and between now and then, your GonzoGeek panel will be making their picks alongside our resident Oscar expert: Matt’s copy of “Wrestlemania 2000” for the Nintendo 64. Today: Best Supporting Actor Bruce (last year: 2/5) I'm going to go with Christoph Waltz on this one. My reasoning is twofold. First, Inglorious Basterds is Jewish wish fulfillment of epic proportions. A group of Jewish c...

Musings on Global Warming

A good friend with whom I've recently become reaquainted asked me if I would be so kind as to outline how it is I've come to believe what I believe about global warming. His view differs from mine, but he seems sincere in wanting to know how I've come to think what I do. Per his requeset the following is not a defense of my position, nor an attempt to somehow prove its correctness. It is simply a connect-the-dots as to how I got from no opinion to the one I currently hold. It is als...

Every musical genre has its stereo-typical audience or fans.  Metal is usually chastised for having legions of bone-head followers.  I read an article somewhere not too long ago that refuted that.  It really wasn't a new revelation to me.  After all, the Metal flows through my veins.  It did make me think of my formidable high school years though and how this music impacted me at that age.  I received more of an education from listening to Metal than I did...

I live on the East end of downtown and work in downtown.  Practically everyday I am almost hit by morons making right or left turns from the second lanes.  I don't know what it is, but some people seem to think they aren't allowed to drive in the first lanes.  Now I know the far right lane is the bus lane...but at certain times.  The far left lanes sometimes have a red marking by the curb which is a no parking indicator.  I think idiots see that and t...

my brothers and i were guests on the rosie o'donnell xm-radio show last week.  she dug our "operation earwax removal" clip on youtube so much that she flew us up to nyc and back.  it was a kick ass time and rosie and her whole crew were really awesome to us.  the guest in the studio before our interview was attilla shabaaz (malcolm x's eldest daughter).  we got to meet her and it was an incredible honor.  here's the link to the audio of our interview... http://www.box.n...

Ah, 2009. When one foolhardy wrestling fan and admitted statistical dork decided to try and keep track of all the matches watched in one calendar year. There were good times. There were bad times. There were, certainly, matches that slipped through the cracks. There was laughter. There were tears — mostly those of boredom whenever Randy Orton wrestled. Seriously, it’s 2009. Enough with the headlocks. The final total, according to my inexact math, was 425 matches...

Check this song out. I don't understand Japanese, but darn is it catchy. I've also never visited Japan, but from afar there seems to be a segment of their culture that celebrates the superficial even more voraciously then we do. This song, and its mash-up with a Halo 2 promo, could easily help further this image. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f20ziomg33s] But wait...there's more. Check out a translation of the lyrics and ask yourself which one of our pop darlings could produce anythi...
