Red Bull Racing at Circuit of the Americas: US Grand Prix 2012

Photo: Mark McArdle Former F1 driver David Coulthard took a Red Bull Racing Formula 1 car to the future site of Circuit of the Americas and did some dirt tracking with it. Then for good measure he made a turn or two on the streets outside Austin, Tex. That plus some words from CotA Chairman Tavo Hellmund make this a fun video for anyone excited about the return of Formula One to the US.

F1: Countdown to Austin 2012 - Belgian Grand Prix

Back when the Formula One circuit stopped in Monaco I described it as one of my three favorite courses the drivers faced each year. Why? Because it is the closest F1 gets to taking the machine out of the equation and testing the man on his own. And Spa-Francorchamps, site of the Belgian Grand Prix? It is, without qualification, my favorite course. At 4 1/3 miles Spa is the longest circuit of the F1 season. Its back-to-back straightaways allow the drivers to appr...

F1: US Grand Prix 2012 - Ecclestone confirms Nov. 18 date

Formula One’s Bernie Ecclestone confirmed earlier reports of a revised 2012 F1 schedule, placing the United States Grand Prix on Nov. 18, 2012. The schedule, which contains numerous adjustments from the calendar issued in June by the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile, is not considered official until the World Motor Sports Council ratifies it at its meeting later this year. “I have been hoping for a late season race date since this project began and see this as a very posi...

Aussie Invasion!: V8 Supercars in Austin starting 2013

V8 Supercars and Circuit of The Americas have entered a 5-year agreement to bring the famous Australian series to the new Circuit of The Americas beginning in 2013. And what could be better, Texas pretty much being the Australia of the US, filled with proud, loud, and ultimately ultra-friendly indviduals. For those unfamiilar, V8 Supercars notch into the racing spectrum somewhere between NASCAR Sprint Cup and Grand-Am or LeMans series GT machines. They race almost entirely on Austra...

F1: Countdown to Austin - US GP June 2012...probably

The Federation Internationale de L'Automobile's (FIA) World Motor Sport Council announced its tentative 2012 Formula One schedule earlier this month, with the US Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Tex., scheduled for June 17. Concerns have already been voiced, however, concerning the potential heat on that date, with some suggesting it be rescheduled for the fall. Such a move would have to be requested by US Grand Prix promoter Tavo Hellmund and F1 chief Bernie Ecclestone. The pr...
