FIA WEC: Pre-Circuit of the Americas point standings

With the FIA World Endurance Championship’s second annual 6 Hours of Circuit of the Americas now just 44 days away (Sept. 20) as part of Lone Star Le Mans weekend at COTA it seemed like a good time to dust off the tops of the post-Le Mans season points standings in the various classes and provide a few notes regarding the season so far. F1: Austria – Mercedes 1-2; Rosberg tops Hamilton, Bottas third

“Holy shit!” the words that leapt out of my mouth, sitting in a pleasantly dark, cool room by myself when Felipe Massa took pole position -- his first since Brazil 2008 – over his Williams teammate Valtteri Bottas, creating the first all-Williams Row 1 since 2003. P2 was Bottas’ highest qualifying position in his 2 years of competition. My simple expletive exclamation followed other expressions of more general pleasure I managed to keep in my head regarding Formula 1&rsqu...
