Reviewing Ring Of Honor wrestling, all the way back from the first event.
Ah, 2009. When one foolhardy wrestling fan and admitted statistical dork decided
to try and keep track of all the matches watched in one calendar year.
There were good times. There were bad times. There were, certainly, matches that
slipped through the cracks.
There was laughter. There were tears — mostly those of boredom whenever Randy
Orton wrestled. Seriously, it’s 2009. Enough with the headlocks.
The final total, according to my inexact math, was 425 matches...
I like wrestling.
No, not Olympic style. I’m talking pro wrestling in all of its gaudy splendor.
And I should amend that to “I used to like wrestling.”
I grew up in south Louisiana in the belly of the Mid-South/UWF territory and Bill Watts’ simple, brilliant and effective booking ruined me for everyone else, so to speak.
