Beauty is the order of the day. Yes, Valencia is splendid, all high blue skies and perfectly sanded beaches. Despite the presence of some megayachts, it somehow lacks the 'swimming pools and movie stars' ambience of Monaco. You can imagine grabbing a beach chair and putting your toes in the sand on one of the practices days, the whine of 18,000 rpm engines only slightly twisting the scene. But once you're in the stands on race day, that's when the true beauty takes over, the sort of bea...

Taking a look at the new X-Men movie.
Jibbies went trans-Atlantic earlier this month to check out Red Fang on tour in Europe with Earthship, Intronaut, and the Ocean. His venue of choice? Arena, in Vienna, Austria. If you're ever in town and there's a band on, you really should check it out. One of the cooler venues going. First up on the night were Germany's Earthship, a spin-off of the Ocean as it turns it out. Former the Ocean drummer Jan Oberg is out front on vox/guitar with the Ocean's own Robin Staps holding down the other ...
LinkFrogging - my homework never looked like this!
If I lived to be 1,000, I never would have believed that Limp Bizkit could possibly come back this strong. Clearly, without Wes, Fred had a real hard time, and without Fred, Wes didn't fare much bettter. But they're reunited, and it feels soooooo good. Watch the video. Then watch it again. And again. And.....f--k it man. Just watch!
Rain. Lots and lots of rain. That, some on course hijinks, a new winner for 2011, and some very determined driving are what the Canadian Grand Prix brought. Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve is long and narrow, running the length of a Montreal river island and back up it, with twists and turns thrown in of course. it's a challenging circuit with minimal room for run-off in the best of conditions and with the rain coming down in buckets race stewards opted for a safety-car start and field lined up i...
Jibbies takes off for Vienna, Austria, to catch Red Fang, Earthship, Intronaut, and The Ocean in action. It seems too much time on an airplane sets him off though, as no sooner does he land than he launches into a near-rant about how Down will go down in history as Phil Anselmo's main band, not Pantera. Dude won't stop talking(!), next hitting on his fears regarding Ginger's departure from Michael Monroe's band before finally coming up for air and letting Loond have a go. Gates of Slumber and Blood Feast both get looked into, and then before you know it Loond heads to the airport, bound for Sonisphere Turkey.

Taking a look at Green Day's new live album.
It happened a couple of days early, but Michael Monroe (via the pic above) has announced his new guiitarst. Replacing Ginger on stage-right will be Backyard Baby and Hellacopter....Dregen! Though certainly not the highest-profile potential replacement (Andy McCoy, Nasty Suicide, Steve Stevens, Todd Youth, Richard Fortus, Izzy Stradlin), Dregen will fit in perfectly. I had the chance to see a spectacular set by Backyard Babies at a SXSW Man's Ruin shoucase in the mid '90s ...
I was standing near the food at a small Austin, Texas, music venue during SXSW in March 2010 when I see someone signing an autograph for a very eager fan. The someone looked for all the world like Ginger (the Wildhearts), but why on earth would he be in the same space and time as me. I mean, sure, I was there to see Michael Monroe's new band, but..... And then llight dawned. Holy fuck. Ginger must be in MM's band! A few minutes later the Michael Monroe band took the stage and sure enough, the...
