FIA WEC: 6 Hours of COTA – Lotterer fastest in Free Practice #3

Andre Lotterer (Audi Sport Team Joest R18 e-tron quattro) posted the fastest time in Free Practice #3 for the FIA World Endurance Championship 6 Hours of Circuit of the Americas with a 1:48.650. Teammate Allan McNish was second, with the Toyota Racing TS030 Hybrid  driven by Stephane Sarrazin more than 1 sec back at 1:49.667. Le Mans Drivers Hall of Fame: Richard Thompson

As part of the festivities surrounding the World Endurance Championship 6 Hours of Circuit of the America’s , Pierre Fillon, President of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, inducted Richard Thompson into the Le Mans drivers Hall of Fame. V8 Supercars: Sandown 500 – Red Bulls finish 1-2

The typical Australian V8 Supercars event consists of multiple 40ish-lap road course/street circuit races on the same weekend. This weekend, however, brought the first of the season’s three consecutive endurance races, the Sandown 500; 161 laps for total of 500 km on the 3.1 km, 12-turn road course. ALMS P1/P2 qualifying – Circuit of the Americas

Lucas Luhr (Pickett Racing Muscle Milk HPD ARX-03c) took the P1 pole for the American Le Mans Series race at Circuit of the Americas, followed  by Marino Franchitti as the top driver in P2. The Nissan-powered DeltaWing piloted by Andy Meyrick qualified in sixth overall (third P1) but coasted to stop on the front straight during the final lap. The DeltaWng had the fastest Practice 1 time. The track was still wet, but not as much so as during GT qualifying.

ALMS GT qualifying – Circuit of the Americas

Joey Hand (BMW) won the poll in GT qualifying for the American Le Mans Series race at Circuit of the Americas, with the Corvettes of Antonio Garica and Oliver Gavin finishing P2 and P3. John Edwards took the fourth spot on the grid with Patrick Long and Jonathon Bomarito make up Row 3. Rain fell throughout the session, all of the quickest times set in the first four laps out of seven.

GRAND-AM: Laguna Seca – Taylor over Pruett again, Lally takes first 2013 GT win

The GRAND-AM Rolex Series entered Laguna Seca with the Top 10 in Daytona Prototype separated by just 5 points.
