As part of the festivities surrounding the World Endurance Championship 6 Hours of Circuit of the America’s , Pierre Fillon, President of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, inducted Richard Thompson into the Le Mans drivers Hall of Fame. The typical Australian V8 Supercars event consists of multiple 40ish-lap road course/street circuit races on the same weekend. This weekend, however, brought the first of the season’s three consecutive endurance races, the Sandown 500; 161 laps for total of 500 km on the 3.1 km, 12-turn road course.
