Managing Editor John Moorehouse renews his task to read through the entire continuity of the Marvel Universe.
Bubby, Wubby, Fuzzy Wuzzy, Moo-moo Mummy, Mammie, Chubby, Tuggy Buggy, Snuggy, Squishy, ChuggleBuggle, Ha-Hoonie, FrickerFracker, and the list goes on and on. All names that I call my beloved kitty. My beautiful furry baby came into my life in June of 2005. She was only 5 weeks old. She was snotty and had a goopy eye. She still has the goopy eye due to a blocked tear duct that I have to wipe every other day or so. She has grown to be an extremely unique, peculiar, charming, and adorable cat. Tal...

When I found out that Testament, Overkill, and Flotsam & Jetsam were touring together this year, I almost peed my pants. Talk about Thrash Metal greatness! The last and only time I had ever seen Flots was in 1987 in Norwalk, Connecticut at the legendary Anthrax Club. The last and only time I had seen Overkill was in Houston in 1988. I’ve seen Testament many times since the 80’s through the present. And when I saw that they were selling VIP tickets th...
Venice, California’s guitar-rock powerhouse The Shrine will be playing with Swedish classic-throwback kindred souls Graveyard at Fitzgerald’s in Houston, Sat. Feb. 23, the final date of a month-long US tour together. The Devil’s Blood and Royal Thunder are also on the bill. The Shrine is touring in support of its Primitive Blast album, released last summer on Tee Pee Records, while Graveyard is out supporting its own 2012 release, Lights Out, through Nuclear Blast.
Most people do the right thing most of the time. Despite the 90-million ways I could count that the world’s going to hell in a handcart, I believe this more than most things, and occasionally still have it absolutely proven to me.
I wake up at 7 local time after 4 hours of shitty sleep, bringing my grand total since I started this trip to 0 hours of good sleep and 7 of shitty. I met Nestor and Charlie (Sikh, based in Canada, super guy, helping Nestor organize a separate conference for ne...
Fitzgerald’s, right up there with Rudyard’s on the very short list of Houston’s longest-lived cool places to see music, has added a nice new twist to things lately: All-ages shows that are free for 21+ an just $10 for those under. What’s more, the bills often take place on a weekend and include one or more national acts people would actually want to see – Saint Vitus, Electric Six, etc. – and then a diverse line-up of local/regional groups in support; sometime...

I’m back! It’s Friday; time to start goofing off. And guess what? The boss has gone and left me the keys to the shop so I get to run this show however I like.
I know we normally look to the near future in finding our Cheesecake, building on a tie-in to a movie about to come out or a TV show about to get cancelled or whatever else might guide us in that direction. But I’m in charge now, and it’s time to atone; time to look b...
Hello friends. Welcome to Episode 049 of The Jibbies & Loond Show. You’ll notice it sounds a little different. Our two intrepid hosts have decided to actually feature full songs for you to hear. It’s a work in progress, but so far we’re thrilled with the results. The first two tracks to tickle your ears come for Hatebreed and Sons of Aeon, both of which have new records outs right now. If we could get J&L to talk a little less, the possibility of doing three or four songs a week exists. But then you couldn’t get up to date on the various permutations of the Anthrax saga, Saxon box sets, and the glory of Power Trip live, all of which are explored within.
As I’m typing, Jibbies sits nervously in the corner, worried that he undersold the quality of the new Hatebreed album…that’s right folks, it’s a grower, and very good indeed. Have a listen and judge for yourself. We hope you like the new format.
