It's finally here. The biggest geek weekend of the year, San Diego Comic-Con International, starts tonight.  We've got a four-man crew out in California to deliver as much coverage as we can manage over the next five days. The only thing standing in our way is the 100,000 other fans lining up to get in each panel. Stay tuned for posts throughout the weekend. You can also follow Bruce, John and Matt on Twitter. Stephe hasn't taken the social media leap yet, but you'll hear from him thi...

Jibbies & Loond get back to woodshedding in the summer sweatbox that is Houston, Tex., checking out tracks both new and old, dropping in on satan's newest powerpop exponents, enviously eyeing the European festival season, and discussing the ins-and-outs of all sorts of heavy and/or costumed acts over the years. Vader, Testament, Earth Crisis, Lock Up, and Hail!Hornet all figure prominently on the duo's watch list for new tunes. Ghost earn high marks from both J & L, before Looned explores the realms of Death and Jibbies gives a hearty endorsement to Weedeater's vid for 'Mancoon.' J's got one more in the chamber though, and not being one to let such things go to waste explains the greatness of Slipknot's Sonisphere UK tribute to fallen comrade Paul Gray to a respectful but unswayed Loond.

Interview with Onur Akca from Murder King

While I was in Istanbul, Turkey last month I had the opportunity to see a local Metal band called Murder King. They were super tight, talented, energetic, and fuckin heavy. My brother, my cousin, and I saw them play at a local club called DoRock on the Saturday night before Sonisphere Istanbul. The crowd was friendly, joyous, and jazzed to be there. The guys played a mixed set of original material and various cover songs that were all executed with flawless precision. I urge everyone to check th...

F1: Countdown to Austin 2012 - British Grand Prix

Photo: Clive Mason/Getty Images Silverstone. Home of the first Formula 1 Grand Prix in 1950, won by Ferrari. Near-on the home to McLaren, currently second in the standings behind Red Bull and featuring two British drivers: Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton. But of late, not a kind course to either the manufacturer or its pilots. This trend continued into qualifying for the 2011 British Grand Prix, Button slotted in at 5th on the grid, Hamilton 10th (his worst position in 25 races...

Friday LinkFrogging - 7/8/11

It's summertime, and I don't know about where you're from, but this is what the girls look like walking past my front porch right about now. Yeah, I know. I've got it good. In this case though, I've decided to share. The young lady in question is Amber Heard, and you can check her out for yourself starting today in the limited US theatrical release of John Carpenter's The Ward. Geeks of all sorts are likely already familiar with Ms. Heard. Automotive enthusiasts will still have...

The Jibbies & Loond Show - Episode 011 - Through The Sonisphere & Beyond The Gates

Not long is Jibbies back from his jaunt across the pond to Austria and it’s Loond’s turn to head for Turkey where he attends Sonisphere Istanbul, catches a set by local Istanbul Metal hero’s - Murder King, and interviews their drummer - Onur Akca.  The guys discuss upcoming and highly anticipated new material from Machine Head and are psyched about the “an evening with Amon Amarth” tour.  Jibbies mentions Wino’s new band, Premonition 13 and the magnitude of it’s awesomness.  Jibbies also once again brings Michael Monroe into the conversation with the huge news of Dregen taking over on guitar duty from the departed Ginger.  The duo’s differences in taste are reflected in Loond’s ineloquent geeking out over Possessed’s “Beyond The Gates & The Eyes Of Horror”, while Jibbies exclaims that he is un-moved by this particular blast from the past.

V8 Supercars and Circuit of The Americas have entered a 5-year agreement to bring the famous Australian series to the new Circuit of The Americas beginning in 2013. And what could be better, Texas pretty much being the Australia of the US, filled with proud, loud, and ultimately ultra-friendly indviduals.
