Entries for December 2010

There have been some great monologues about what someone believes. Steve Martin had a great one that included "robots are stealing my luggage." For me the pinnacle is, and will always be, the Crash Davis speech from Bull Durham. However, earlier today I stumbled upon one I forgot. From the mind of Neil Gaiman in the 2001 novel American Gods... I can believe things that are true and I can believe things that aren't true and I can believe things where nobody knows if they're true or not. I ca...

The Ultimate Fighter - Season 12, Episode 10

Jonathan Brookins and Nam Phan will be in the semi-finals. Who will join them? That's what this week's show is all about. The Ultimate Fighter - Season 12, Episode 9

This is where the rubber hits the road, so to speak. After eight weeks of fights, we are down to our quarter-finals. There is a lot at stake for these guys. I haven't been as diligent about writing up these recaps this season as I have in the past.  Things have been hectic.  I've also not really been as excited about the cast or coaches.  Koscheck is a tool.  GSP is a robot.  Bruce Leroy is a joke.  Marc Stevens was overrated. The Ultimate Fighter - Season 12, Episode 8

Two guys. One fight. One slot. That's what this week is all about. Yes kids, its the return of the "wild card" fight. Marc Stevens comes into the fight as a controversial pick.  Aaron "English" Wilkinson not so much. Things get off to a rough start as Josh Koscheck once again gets into a verbal confrontation with Team GSP paramedic, Brad Tate.  Koscheck has done an excellent job of making himself look like an absolute tool throughout the season.  This w...

Gristle 'Cold Blue Sky' - the review

Formed in Fall 2002 by Galactic Cowboys vocalist Ben Huggins and Len Sonnier, Gristle has been writing songs for several years and occasionally performing live in the Houston area. Len is bass player in the Sonnier Brother's Band but handles guitar in this outfit, Ben's son Shane Huggins playing bass in a rhythm section completed by Sonnier Bros' drummer Chad Lyons. Gristle live is neither heavy prog rocking nor bayou blues riffing, but instead high-quality, straight forward ...
