Friday LinkFrogging - 1/25/13
I'm not going to lie.

The pickings were slim this week.

January is the time of year the studios dump their trash into the local cineplex.

Football season is pretty much over unless you live in Baltimore or San Francisco.

Television sweeps starts next week.

There just isn't much on the pop culture landscape this week.

Unless you count Hansel & Gretel:  Witch Hunters.

Look, I love Fables.  Its a smart book full of great characters.

But, if the legacy of Fables is going to be things like Grimm, Snow White and the Huntsman and this, well, maybe they should have stayed in the public domain.

We've got Jack the Giant Killer in the queue.

What's next?

The startling revelation that Ahab's peg leg is actually made out of Pinnochio and that Moby Dick and Monstro are one and the same.

Hold on.

That's not bad.

I'm calling copyright on that right now.

Look for it in theatres near you in January 2015.

In the meantime, please say hello to this week's cheesecake, Gemma Arterton.

Ms. Arterton is the leather-clad Gretel in the movie referenced above.

She stars opposite Hawkeye Bourne himself, Jeremy Renner.

In addition to her witch-slaying, Ms. Aterton has appeared in such geek approved fare as RocknRolla, Clash of the Titans, Prince of Persia and Pirate Radio.

Of course, her greatest claim to fame is her oil-soaked appearance as Strawberry Fields in Quantum of Solace.

I think I can do better next week.

I think we all can.

Let's hit the links.
