I’ve been reading a lot of stories lately in the mainstream media about “Flash Mobs”. I don’t know if this is just another flavor of the month type story or what, but it’s really enraging me. For those that don’t know; this “idea” was born out of the recent UK riots. People using social networking applications to organize into large groups and then commit crimes – looting, robbing, vandalizing, murdering, etc. How lovely. It amazes me how much energy young people today put into doing some of the most sick and heinous stuff. While I in no way approve of the crimes committed during the UK riots; I also understand the reason(s) for the events that unfolded. Our American counterparts on the other hand have the audacity and ignorance to claim that they are “making a statement” when they rob convenience stores and innocent people coming out of restaurants or when they’re just being pests and harassing people in shopping malls. What a bunch of disgusting idiotic animals. If you want to make a statement and show how tough you are; then how about dressing in some sort of uniform and marching in unison on police stations, city halls, and other government establishments. I’m thinking something like the scene from Malcolm X when they all converge on the police station where one of their compadres is being held. There has to be uniformity, seriousness, and intelligence in the collective as a whole. That’ll rattle some suit and tie fuckers. I’m down with “fighting the power” and “sticking it to the man”, but try scaring the right people instead of picking on lowly convenience store owners and innocent people trying to just get through their day. All you hoodie wearing, pistol packing, gangster wannabe, pants down to your knees, dumb as shit, thug assholes should go fuck yourselves. They should all be stuffed into fatigues and shipped off to Iraq and Afghanistan…then we’ll see how tough they are. I agree whole-heartedly that there is a major and growing divide between the haves and have-nots, there is great injustice towards people of color and minorities, police forces are corrupt, and people are being pushed to the brink. In order to voice discontent effectively and make the establishment notice, listen, and pay heed; we must change our strategy of protest and engagement. The 60’s hippie method of drums, singing, dancing, etc is ridiculous and is immediately dismissed as a bunch of freaks…it is ineffective and doesn’t scare anyone anymore. On the flip side, blatant criminal activity like looting, robbing, vandalizing, and killing innocent people will only be met with brutal force especially when you are dealing with more and more militarized police forces. Just as long hair, flowers, singing, and dancing don’t scare “the man”; hoodies, bandanas, and pants hanging to your knees don’t scare him either. You just look like a retard who can’t dress himself. Non-violent, over whelming numbers, discipline, organization, leadership, and strength is key. Anything else will be dismissed or crushed. I also think that if you relish the right to bear arms and choose to steal from others, then you deserve nothing more or nothing less than a bullet in response to your actions. Violating someone’s home or business and taking what is not yours is a crime that transcends religion, ethnicity, gender, age, status, or sexual orientation…it is plain wrong. But I digress. Bottom line is that I think the people behind these Flash Mobs have nothing to do with protest or making any statements. They’re just a bunch of scum-bag criminals and should be treated as such.
