Summer is here kids.
You know how I can tell?
As that great American philosopher Vincent Furnier once opined, school is out.
You know how else?
Yesterday the thermometer in my car said it was 101 outside.
It's only June!
Temperatures that high this early in the season make me fear what August might look like here in H-Town. I have visions of trees bursting into flames and people melting like they just looked into the Ark of the Covenant.
It tell ya, it's hot out there.
And, speaking of hot, say hello to this week's cheesecake, January Jones.
Starting today, Ms. Jones will be melting fanboy hearts (and other organs) when she slips into the lingerie of the White Queen, Emma Frost
, in X-Men: First Class
I came late to the Mad Men
party, but when they announced that Ms. Jones would be playing Emma Frost, I appreciated the casting. There is a lot of Emma Frost in Betty Draper. Sure, a lot of it is repressed, but its there.
In addition to her work with mutants and ad-men, Ms. Jones has appeared in one of the lesser (ie, not first) American Pie
movies, the Leelee Sobieski vehicle The Glass House
(when America was desperately searching for the next Helen Hunt), Love Actually
(which is actually very good), as well as the ill-advised 15+ years too late Dirty Dancing
Her personal life is nearly as spotty as her movie resume. She's been linked to Josh Groban, Ashton Kutcher and Jason Sudeikis. She's currently expecting her first child with a father to be named later (though I've read Claudia Schiffer might have some thoughts on the subject).
Still, fanboys can be forgiving. As long as Ms. Jones is willing to walk around in the White Queen's trademark bustier in 3-D she should be golden with the desired demographic.
On to the links.
Speaking of Jason Sudeikis, he's hosting the MTV Movie Awards this weekend. Get to know him.
