Friday LinkFrogging - 11/30/18
It's the last day of November kids.

You know what that means.

Tomorrow we turn the page on the calendar and begin the holiday joyride straight into the new year.

Yup, 2018 is almost behind us.

Depending on your point of view, that may be a very good thing.

So, before we march into our uncertain future, I wanted to fire up the Wayback Machine and go retro this week.

How often do you listen to a song you've heard a thousand times?

No, not just hear it.

Listen to it.

Really actively listen to it and take in things you may have heard before because you've heard it so many times it slips mindlessly into the background when you hear it.

That happened to me recently.

Twice in fact.

The song in question?

Heart of Glass by Blondie.

I know I've heard that song hundreds of times since the late 70s.  I haven't listened to it in about as long.

I found myself with the song on the radio in the car the other day and, for whatever reason, my brain kicked in and I found myself listening to the song.

I had forgotten exactly how cool it was.

Aside from the breathy vocals of this week's cheesecake, there was a lot going on musically in that song.  It's not wonder it's a new wave classic.

Of that's right, I did mention this week's cheesecake.

Please say hello to Debbie Harry.

I can still remember where I was the first time I saw Ms. Harry on a flickering screen.  It was Dick Clark's New Years Rockin' Eve taking us from the 70s into the 80s.  An older friend was into Blondie, or maybe just Debbie Harry, and he refused to let us change the channel for fear that he'd miss a moment of their/her performance.

What up Butch?

Needless to say, my pre-teen brain wasn't ready for the punk rock sex goddess that was Debbie Harry.  I was converted that night.  Soon I would own Call Me on 45.

Hell, I even sat through Videodrome for the promise of seeing Ms. Harry in the altogether.  It was worth it.

Yes, Debbie Harry was one of the formative fantasies of my youth.

I'd kinda forgotten that too.

Let's hit the links.
