It's a momentous weekend here in the Geek-o-Sphere.
It's not often that storied franchises get tectonic makeovers, but this weekend, that's exactly what is happening to Doctor Who
The new season debuts on Sunday with a new Doctor.
A controversial Doctor.
A female Doctor.
Yes, after twelve regenerations, everyone's favorite Time Lord is a woman.
And, man, are some of y'all way way too worked up about it.
I mean, they turned the Master into Missy as a dry run, so you knew it was coming.
Sure, it kinda smells of political correctness, but why not give it a chance. If the Doctor stands for new beginnings and understanding.
Can't we all give the 14th Doctor a chance.
So, who better to be this week's hostess, than the Doctor herself.
Please say hello to Jodie Whittaker.
Before taking control of the TARDIS, Ms. Whittaker appeared in such Geek-approved fare Black Mirror, Attack the Block
I'd really like to implore my Geekly brethren to give her a chance. One of the charms of the Doctor is how each new actor brings a new set of nuance and quirk to the character. Those things are far more important than the Doctor's gender. That's just another unique character trait to make Whittaker's Doctor different than all of those who came before her.
Given everything going on in the work, a woman becoming the Doctor isn't a big deal. It's just another actor playing a character we love. If she's not good in the role, there's always regeneration.
