Last week got away from me.
It's been kinda hectic here at home base.
Still, I've been trying to keep up and here's what I've been checking out.
- I finished watching the second season of Netflix's women's wrestling dramedy. The show earned a bunch of Emmy nominations and, let me tell you, they're all well earned. The season focuses on the evolution of the promotion and the relationships of all the characters. I was especially taken with the evolution of Marc Maron's character. This one is worth a look if you haven't.
DAREDEVIL: BACK IN BLACK
- I've been a fan of Daredevil since the early 80s Frank Miller days. So, I was very interested in checking out Marvel's latest reboot of the Man Without Fear. Written by Charles Soule with art by Ron Garney, Back in Black returns Daredevil to New York with an elaborate plan to end crime in New York. I've read the first five volumes and the ending of volume five leaves me dying to see what happens next.
- I'm not sure why it took his death to get me to read Anthony Bourdain's book. I'm glad I did. It's snarky, insightful and a page turner. Bourdain shines a light into the world of the professional chef in all of its ragged glory. The book made Bourdain a star, but he never forgot where he came from. This book is a great read for fans of the man, writing or cooking. Hell, it's a great read for anyone.
