Okay, I'm back.
Did you miss me?
After my self-imposed pop culture exile last week, it's time to dive back in. I wanted to experience Infinity War without any spoilers and, to my mind, the only way to do that was to go black.
So I did, mostly.
I watched some stuff I had recorded and saw the movie.
So, here we are.
- after 10 years, the MCU's giant payoff was just that. GIANT! All those heroes. All those new alliances. All those Infinity Stones. All that chin. The payoff of the Thanos arc was epic. Changes had to be made to the source material, but they didn't hurt the movie. Without being spoiler-y, I'm hoping Avengers 4 continues this movie's momentum. Based on the stinger, I don't think that's going to be a problem. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
ANDRE THE GIANT
- HBO's documentary on the legendary professional wrestler was a must watch. Vintage photos, film and interviews paired with interviews with Andre's peers made for a truly fun viewing experience for this old wrestling geek. I was lucky enough to see Andre a time or two in person and he was truly a sight to behold. I'm glad this documentary exists. Its a great way to expose a younger fans to the legacy of the Giant.
- who would have thought that Zed from Police Academy would turn out to be a really good director. Not I, yet here we are. Bobcat Goldthwait has put together an interesting resume and his found footage Bigfoot movie was especially good. For long stretches of the movie, there are only two people on screen cowering in a tent. I was mesmerized. If you haven't seen this one and you like horror, you owe it to yourself to give it a look.
