Brothers and sisters, this week I need to testify.
I have once again been to the ocean and bathed myself in the healing waters of rock and roll.
I have seen a rock god stride across the stage and lead his people to the musical promised land.
I have seen philistines turned into disciples as they basked in the glory of cowbells and power chords.
I read from a new book and it was good.
On Wednesday night I saw the Foo Fighters kick off their 2018 tour with the help of the Struts. It was, in a word, awesome.
I needed that visceral eardrum melting, head ringing night out. It renewed me. It healed me. It made me whole again.
Or maybe, as Dr. Thompson said, so much better than I:
Music has always been a matter of Energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed Fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio.
That being said, let's say hello to this week's cheesecake. Please say hello to Thandie Newton.
Ms. Newton will be back as Maeve this weekend when Westworld
returns to HBO. The first season ended with the robots taking control and I'm dying to see where the show goes from there.
You may also recognize Ms. Newton from her work in Crash, Run Fatboy Run
Bring on the music and the robots.
That's all I've got.
Let's hit the links.
On the lamb? Better back a little further into your hole. Because if China’s doing this, you damn ‘betcha Uncle Sam is.
