Just got back from seeing the latest MCU entry, Black Panther.
While I enjoyed the movie (more than the rest of my family), it wasn't without its faults. The pacing was a bit sluggish in places and the story was a bit labored.
The good news? It did a great job of introducing the mythos of the Black Panther to the masses.
The more the MCU can do that, the better chance they have of staving off burn out.
Chadwick Boseman is, once again, great as T'Challa. Michael B. Jordan is awesome as Killmonger. Hell, the movie even introduced Man-Ape in a way that didn't make the character seem utterly ridiculous.
All-in-all, it was a solid entry and a good way to lead us into the upcoming Infinity War
Of course, the movie also presented many strong female characters including Shuri, T'Challa tech wiz sister; Nakia, a Wakandan spy and love interest and Okoye, the leader of the elite Dora Milaje.
And who better to lead an elite female fighting force than this week's cheesecake.
Please say hello to Danai Gurira.
For my money, her Okoye was the biggest badass of them all. She stood shoulder-to-shoulder with her Dora Milaje sisters against Killmonger and didn't get a scratch
Of course, you would expect nothing less from Ms. Gurira who is most famous for playing the equally ass-kicking Michonne on The Walking Dead
I think that show starts up again soon, so this selection is a win-win.
