No, Stranger Things
doesn't make this week's list. Might not make next week's either. Why? Well, next week will be filled by the God of Thunder and the end of all things.
Well, let's take a look.
World Series 2017
- I lived in Houston for 25 years. During that quarter century I watched the Houston Astros go through three owners and a lifetime of ups and downs. From the glory days of the Killer B's to the 112 loss season, I was there. Now, after a midnight miracle, the Astros are one win away from their first ever World Series crown. They've got Justin Verlander on the hill in Game 6, so that's about as good as its going to get. So, I've been a bit pre-occupied. Now, if we could just do something about Joe Buck. GO ASTROS!!!
- What if a certain gang of teen mystery solvers weren't just taking on guys in rubber suits. What if, instead, one of their mysteries involved real monsters, Elder gods and reincarnation and necromancy. What if that last mission screwed them up so bad they went their separate ways only to be reunited by their Velma to right that final wrong. And, what if Velma had feelings for Daphne? All of these questions can be answered in the new book by Edgar Cantero. It's a great Scooby-Doo/Lovecraft mashup that is a lot of fun to read. There's a sentence I never thought I'd write. It's available now and worth your time during this spookiest of seasons.
Wizard World Austin
- On Friday we got word that we've been approved to cover this year's Wizard World Austin convention. Stephe and I attended the first WWA, but haven't been since. Since I'm an Austinite now, it only made sense that we dive back in. The convention will be held at the Austin Convention Center the weekend of November 17-19. More details forthcoming.
