Welcome to Friday the 13th kids.
First of all, Happy Birthday to my Gonzo Compadre, Stephe. It's a milestone for my friend and I'm glad to have been along for most of the ride.
Secondly, don't take any garden implements from guys in hockey masks today.
Okay, that's the end of my obligatory Friday the 13th reference for the day.
It's October and the new television season is rolling out in stages. We've got returning favorites, aging warhorses, resuscitated series and superheroes. So many superheroes.
I'm pretty sure we've reached saturation. This bubble is about to break.
Comics culture has been co-opted for the masses. We've lost our heroes and villains to Hot Topic. Count the Harley Quinns and Negans at your local con. Or at your front door this Halloween.
Nowhere is this more evident than on the CW. We've got Arrow, Flash
and Legends of Tomorrow
And we've got Riverdale
Or Archie 90210.
Or Jughead Peaks.
I'm going to be honest here. I've not watched a single episode of this show. I don't think I'm in the target demographic.
Plus, one of the kids from The Sweet Life
is playing Jughead which just begs for an evil twin storyline during sweeps.
Of course, the great Archie debate has always been Betty or Veronica.
I'm Team Veronica. Always have been. A hot rich girl with a thing for ginger nerds? What's not to like.
So, if I'm riffing on Archie, Veronica and/or Riverdale, it seems that this week's cheesecake is obvious.
Please say hello Riverdale's
Veronica Lodge, Camila Mendes.
This is another one of our "buy earlys" as Riverdale
is Ms. Mendes' only credit to date.
It won't be her last.
