Welcome to May kids.
It's been a busy couple of weeks around the homestead. My intake hasn't been what it normally is. Still, I've managed a few pop culture observations.
Here they are.
- HBO's irreverent take on the modern tech industry returned for its fourth season last week. They were quick to shake up the status quo, which, for a show like this is a good idea. The Pied Piper team continues to take two steps back for each step forward that they take, but you have to think that, in time, they will turn that corner and make it. Of course, watching them struggle is part of the show's charm.
THE GREEN INFERNO
- this is one of those movies that I knew I wouldn't like. Eli Roth, torture porn and cannibals? Sounds like a horrible idea. It was. The Green Inferno
is, without a doubt, the worst movie I've ever seen and I saw Yellowbeard AND Grunt! The Wrestling Movie
in the theater. Why did I watch it? To see if it was as bad as I had heard. It was. The "characters" were merely ciphers for torture and mutilation. The plot was threadbare. The ending was trite. There is nothing to recommend about this one. STAY AWAY!
- Maybe it was because I had just watched The Green Inferno
. Maybe its just how my brain is wired, but as I was getting ready for bed last night, some misfiring synapse decided that Kenny Rogers' country-politan hit Coward of the County
was just a mainstreamed update of Sam Peckinpah's Straw Dogs
. Watch the videos and decide for yourself.
