Well, we made it through the first week of 2017 with only minor hiccups on the pop culture front, so we're already off on a better foot than 2016. Let's hope it continues.
In the meantime, here's a look at my pop culture highlights from the week.
FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH
- After reading the book that was the basis for the classic 80s movie, I decided to revisit said movie. I was once again struck by how closely the screenplay adhered to the original text. Sure, a few characters were tweaked (I'm looking at you Damone), but for the most part everything was spot on. Oh, and that scene was still in there. You know the one. If you don't, scroll up.
- I read a couple of tpb volumes of the Robert Kirkman's superhero series this weekend. I know the title is winding down, so I wanted to try to get caught up. With volumes 20 and 21, the series moves off of Earth and begins its wind down. Still a fun read after all these years. Give it a look if you aren't already.
THE GOLDEN GLOBES
- And finally, the first award show of the season aired on NBC last night. They minimized Jimmy Fallon's yelling and let the work do the talking. La La Land had a big night as expected. Having seen the movie, I'm more than okay with that.
