Review - Good Behavior
Last year, Blake Crouch's Wandering Pines found it's way to network television.  It's elaborate post-apocalyptic mythology found an audience and the hunt was on for the next piece of his work to adapt.

Enter Letty Dobesh.

Letty is Crouch's petty thief character and the protagonist of three novellas.  The character has been adapted for the series Good Behavior on TNT.  Dobesh is played by none other than Lady Mary herself, Michelle Dockery.

What does all of this have to do with this review?

Simple dear reader.  We're taking a look at the source material.

The three novellas that are the source material for the television show are collected in one volume, Good Behavior.

The interlocking stories - The Pain of Others, Sunset Key and Grab - introduces us to Letty shortly after her release from prison and takes us deeper and deeper into her troubled life.  The character is fascinating and the stories are good reads.

Good Behavior was one of my favorite reads of 2016.  The characters are engaging.  The writing is crisp.  Crouch has a real winner in Letty.  Each of the novellas finds Letty dealing with another flavor of intrigue.  From burglary to murder to a full blown heist, Letty manages to find trouble no matter how straight she tries to go.  With each story, the stakes escalate until Letty finds herself at the point of no return in the desert.

Crouch really seems to have found his muse with Letty.  The author notes between the novellas gives insight into his creative process as well as the development and evolution of the character in both the movie and the television show.

If you are a fan of thrillers, noir or crime books, give Good Behavior a read.  After spending a few hours with Letty Dobesh, you'll be glad you did.
