How about this weekend kids?
The Cubs are in the World Series for the first time in more than a century. John is still weeping.
So what else happened? Well, here's what I got into.
THE WALKING DEAD
- Confession first. I stopped watching The Walking Dead
several seasons ago. It just didn't go anywhere and I had better things to watch. I've continued to read, less loyally, the comics, so I was interested in seeing how the show would interpret this seminal event. I have to admit, the episode was strong. Between the deaths and Neagan's spiritual torture of Rick, I'm glad I watched it. It was not enough, however, to get me back as a regular viewer.
DAVID S. PUMPKINS
- Tom Hanks hosted SNL
for the 9th time Saturday night. Hanks has always been game and this time was no different. An early sketch had me early and held me until the end. I'm going to include a link to the sketch below. My reaction was the same as it was when I saw "More Cowbell" for the first time. Its one of those sketches that's going to become famous. It was just the right absurd premise with fearless players needed to become immortal. Don't believe me? Check it out.
BEYOND YACHT ROCK
- My newest obsession. This podcast by the guys behind the Yacht Rock
webseries is squarely in this music geek's wheelhouse. The crew creates their own genres of music (ie Bald Metal - lost hair metal) and then count down the examples of that genre. It is, without a doubt, my favorite podcast. Find out more of it HERE
. SERIOUSLY RECOMMENDED!!
And for a bonus, This song got stuck in my head this morning and I had totally forgotten what an early 90s alt-all-star production it was.
