Las week's entry was another victim of Hurricane Matthew. Just because I didn't post doesn't mean I don't partake. Here's some cool stuff I've been checking out since last we met.
- I took the Geeklings to the local comic shop yesterday and I saw this sitting on the wall. It spoke to me. I answered. It was awesome. This isn't the current hip hop anti-hero/Netflix version of Luke Cage. This is straight up Blaxploitation Luke Cage right down to the tiara. Written and illustrated by Genndy Tartakovsky of Samurai Jack
fame, this book is a fun ride from the first panel to the last page. Pick this one up if you're looking for a breezy fun read.
ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK
- I was behind on my OITNB
. I'd watched the first two seasons, but stopped there. Then my wife decided she was interested in watching Luke Cage
so I had to find something else to watch during lunch. Welcome back Litchfield. I've now watched Seasons 3 and 4. Three was uneven. Four was a tour de force. I'm going to be anxiously awaiting Season 5 in January.
- Stephe was in for a visit a few weeks ago. While we were at the local Barnes & Noble, I saw this book by Jonathan Wood. The back cover blurb intrigued me, so I jumped in. The story of a British cop drafted by a mysterious government agency, MI37, whose mission is to guard Earth from Lovecraftian menaces from other dimensions. When in doubt, ask yourself "What would Kurt Russell do?" RECOMMENDED!
