Yup, it's Tuesday.
I hope everyone enjoyed their Labor Day weekend. I know I did. I enjoyed it so much that I didn't get anywhere near the computer yesterday. So, in the spirit of staying (kinda) on track, here's what I did this weekend.
HELL OR HIGH WATER
- Saturday afternoon's activities included this neo-western. Starring Chris Pine, Ben Foster and Jeff Bridges, Hell or High Water
is one helluva movie. Set in the broken economy of West Texas, Pine and Foster are bank robber brothers. Bridges is the Texas Ranger charged with bringing them in. The performances are top notch and the story is riveting. Find this one and go see it. You'll be glad you did.
SEX, LIES and HEADLOCKS
- A 2002 look behind the curtain at the WWE circus, this book hasn't aged particularly well. Too much time has passed that the book reads like ancient history. The best part for me was the profiles of many of the players in the Monday Night Wars. For completists only.
THE NICE GUYS
- the kids were lost in their XBox adventures so the wife and I grabbed the latest offering from Shane Black. Set in the late 70s and starring Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling, The Nice Guys
is solid Black. A pair of amped up men solving crimes in the City of Angels. Fans of Black's previous work (Lethal Weapon, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) will find a lot to like in this one.
