Welcome to Monday kids.
I hope you had a good weekend. I know I did.
Well, there was that epic Game of Thrones
finale. Didn't see all of that coming.
Here are some other things I did.
THE CAPED CRUSADE
- For Father's Day, my wife and kids gave me Glen Weldon's history of Batman and the culture that embraces him. Once I started reading it, I inhaled it. Weldon does a wonderful job of laying out the various stages and phases of the Dark Knight's 70+ year existence. From Camp to Grit; comics to animation; Romero to Ledger, its all there. Weldon's prose is sharp, his sense of humor on point and his fanboy game is strong. Highly recommended for any Batman fans in your life.
- We asked the now teenaged boys what movie they wanted to see on Saturday. From the list provided, they chose the new Rock/Hart buddy picture. I've got to say, I enjoyed it. It was typical buddy action comedy fare, but Hart and Johnson both played enough against type that the movie's central mystery had my unsure until the very end. That's not an easy task. It's a fun popcorn flick.
THE WALKING DEAD
- No, not the television show. I swore that glacial mess several seasons ago. I'm talking about the ongoing comic book that's the source material. I'd fallen behind on my reading. WAY BEHIND! So, over the past two weekends, I've gorged myself on TWD TPBs. I'm caught up, and curious to see how the coming battle with the Whisperers goes now that Nagan is in Rick's head.
