The weekend is over. We've sprung forward. Let's see what I did.
VINYL - the new HBO series from the minds of Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger has been accumulating on my DVR for the last few weeks. Last night, the wife and I finally got around to watching the two hour pilot. I'm still not sure what I think of it. The music was great. The story, flashbacks and all, was a bit mishmash. Basically, it was a beautiful mess, but not enough of a mess that I'm not curious to see what happens next.
HAP & LEONARD - I love the Joe R. Landsdale books the new IFC series is based on. I'm not sure the leads are how I pictured the characters, but I enjoyed the first episode. As it turns out, I haven't read Savage Season, the book the series is based on, so I get to watch it unfold on the screen. So far, so good.
MAGNUS CHASE AND THE GODS OF ASGARD - I was a huge mythology geek as a kid. So much so, that as an adult, I picked up the Percy Jackson series before my kids were old enough to read. Last week I borrowed the first book in Mr. Riordan's latest series from one of my kids. Circle of life. The latest series replaces Greek mythology with Norse and keeps the action moving. I enjoyed the book a lot.
