We've been out of commission for a couple of weeks, so in this go around we're going to play a little catch up.
So, what have I been up to for the past three weeks?
Here are the highlights.
ODDBALL COMEDY FESTIVAL - for the second year in a row, the wife and I took in this travelling stand up comedy festival. What a great way to relieve some stress and just have fun. Hours of stand ups on the top of their game playing to a full house. We caught sets from Aziz Ansari, Amy Schumer and Anthony Jeselnik to name just a few. The tour is over now, but if you get a chance to check it out next year I give it my highest recommendation. Also, thanks to Big Jay Oakerson of SiriusXM's The Bonfire for taking the picture that graces the top of this piece.
THE MARTIAN - I saw this opening weekend and really enjoyed it. What could have been a grim affair turned out to be a movie with heart and humor as one man takes on insurmountable odds to survive while another team pushes the limits of science to bring him home. I expect we'll see a few Oscar nominations from this one.
LIFE IN PIECES - to my surprise, this new CBS sitcom is a lot of fun. I don't know if it's Colin Hanks' amazing job of channeling his dad. I don't know if it's James Brolin's lunatic dad. Whatever it is, all the pieces are in place and each episode has improved on the previous. It's worth 20ish minutes of you time.
