For me, 2014 has been, among other things, the year of binges.
The League, Saga of the Swamp Thing, Hellblazer, American Vampire, Orange is the New Black, BPRD Hell on Earth, New 52 Wonder Woman, and Superior Spider-Man all got the binge treatment.
And then there was Luther.
Luther, the brutally dark BBC cop drama starring Idris Elba may very well have been my favorite of all the bingees.
Three BBC seasons topping out at only 14 episodes wasn't a huge commitment. The stories and the acting were all top notch. Elba was, of course, awesome as DCI John Luther.
But what would this version of our modern Sherlock be without his Moriarty?
Less interesting, that's what.
So, say hello to the bad girl, Ruth Wilson.
Ms. Wilson played Alice Morgan in all three series of Luther.
Whenever Luther looked at Alice he was looking into the dark mirror, seeing what he could become if he ever stepped across the line.
As Alice, the super-intelligent sociopath, Ms. Wilson was all kinds of measured menace.
You've also seen Ms. Wilson in such geek-approved fare as The Lone Ranger, Saving Mr. Banks and A Walk Among the Tombstones.
She's currently appearing on Showtime's The Affair opposite Elba's Wire co-star Dominic West.
As Stephe likes to say, the intwinations run deep.
