SOUTHERN Crime Noir?
When I saw Southern Bastards I knew I had to read it. The blood red cover features a football coach with his playbook folded up in his pocket and a revolver tucked into the waistband of his coach shorts.
This book is finger lickin' good.
Yes, I said it.
The story in short. The son of a legendary lawman, a local football legend himself, returns home for the first time in years to sell the family home. He runs afoul of the local machine headed up by the high school football coach.
There is a big stick.
There is much ass kicking.
There are surprises.
Long story short, this is a great book.
It takes a ton of Southern tropes used by everyone from Joe Lansdale to Burt Reynolds and breathes new snuff scented breath into them.
I can't say much more about the plot.
I can only give Southern Bastards a hearty recommendation.
