So it went at my house last night as we ate dinner with NBC's live remake of The Sound of Music
It was an interesting take on the Oscar winning classic.
We have a True Blood
vampire as Captain Von Trapp, former cheesecake as Elsa
and an American Idol as Maria.
I've seen Julie Andrews
, Ms. Underwood and you are no Julie Andrews.
I kept waiting for Anna Paquin to show up and get all freaky in pre-war Austria.
Didn't happen though.
Still, Ms. Underwood's appearance was enough to make me realize she was well qualified to serve as this week's cheesecake.
Ms. Underwood won the fourth season of American Idol
, placing her squarely between Fantasia Barrino and Taylor Hicks.
Since then she's been a fixture on the country charts racking up 11 number one singles.
Her pre-TSOM "filmography" features a lot of roles called "Herself" which makes me think this recurring character must really be popular with the kids.
She is also married to hockey player Mike Fisher.
And, as you may have noticed, she replaced Faith Hill as the singer of the Sunday Night Football
intro this year.
