Friday LinkFrogging - 10/18/13
So, the remake of Carrie opens today.

That's right, Hitgirl hits puberty, gets bullied and hits back.

Careful Chloe, you are going to get typecast.

Let's be honest, given how obsessed our culture is with bullying right now, Carrie is ripe for a new look.  The original Brian DePalma film is a classic, but its 37 years old.  Sissy Spacek was an ingénue.  John Travolta had hair.  William Katt hadn't become a hero.

The early reviews for the new Carrie are middling, but I'm sure that won't stop kids from flocking to the multiplex for some scares.

Nothing wrong with that.

Of course, Carrie only works if she's got a crazed mom to repress her hormones.

And, with that clunky segue, please say hello to this week's cheesecake, Julianne Moore.

Ms. Moore is one of the most acclaimed actresses of the past 20 years.  Starting with her revealing role in Altman's Short Cuts and running through her award winning role as Sarah Palin in last year's Game Change, Ms. Moore has put together a career most actresses would sell their soul for.

See what I kinda did there?

Of course, it wasn't all highbrow now was it?  There was Juarassic Park:  The Lost World, Psycho, Nine Months, Evolution and Hannibal.

Yes, she was Clarice.

And no discussion of Ms. Moore's career would be complete without mention of this little gem from 1998:

Ms. Moore certainly is an achiever.

Next year she will reunite with the Dude in the swords and sorcery flick, Seventh Son.  She'll also appear in a little art house flick called Mockingjay...Part 1.

Let's hit the links.

Pretty sure the terrorists win if we don't include this. Admit it. If you're reading this, you've done at least one of these. Or all seven.
