I blame Ethan Hawke.
Because I'm writing this and feeling like a skeevy old guy and if I'm going down, I'm taking Mr. "I'm Nuthin'"
Its been a long hot summer and as we wind it down, I found myself without any viable cheesecake candidates this week.
Well, that's not exactly true.
There was one, but it just wasn't sitting well with me.
I searched and scoured and came up with nada.
Wait, speaking of Nada, what was the name of that chick with the weird eyes
in They Live
Yeah, at the end of the day, there really was only one choice and so, even though I think I've officially turned a corner that can't be unturned, please say hello to Selena Gomez.
And, what you are probably asking yourself, does any of this have to do with the former Mr. Thurman?
Well, Ms. Gomez is starring opposite Mr. Anderson in Getaway
which is opening to dismal reviews today.
You know why the reviews are tepid? Because nobody is buying Ethan Hawke as an action hero. Training Day
aside, he's spent his entire career playing mealy-mouthed quite guys. He's a Stu, not a Steve.
Its too little too late, Ben Crandall.
Ms. Gomez, on the other hand, is on the upswing.
Having recovered from what appeared to be terminal Beiber Fever (that's the first and last time you will see that term on the 'Geek), Ms. Gomez has left the family friendly confines of Waverly Place
behind and taken on more adult roles like Getaway
and Spring Breakers
She also continues to sing I'm told.
What's next for Ms. Gomez? She's got a couple of movies in post-production so we shall see.
In the meantime? Stay away from Ethan Hawke. Just ask Winona Ryder and/or Uma Thurman. No good can come from it.
Let's hit the links.
