James Sofronas (Global Motorsports Group Audi R8) was leading GT coming into Toronto, with Johnny O’Connell and Andy Pilgrim running second and third in their Cadillac Racing CTS-V.Rs. Jack Baldwin (GTSport Racing with Goldcrest Motorsports Porsche Cayman S), Mark Wilkens (Kinetic Kia Racing Optima), and Lawson Aschenbach (Blackdog Racing Camaro) held down the Top 3 spots in GTS. O’Connell and Baldwin took the Round 9 wins last week at Lime Rock Park.
O’Connell started on pole in Toronto with Alex Figge (K-PAX Racing Volvo S60 R) in P2. Aschenbach and Andy Lee (Best IT Racing Camaro) started at the front of the GTS field. Figge moved into the lead at the start, stretching it to 1.275 sec at the end of Lap 2 of 34. Wilkens’ Acura teammate Nic Jonsson made a run at second in GTS during Lap 9, with O’Connell successfully passing Figge for the overall lead one lap later. Wilkens also took second in GTS.
Figge spun shortly after getting passed by O’Connell, losing a great deal of track position.
Lee retook GTS second from Jonsson just after the halfway mark, with Jonsson slowing sharply. Wilkens moved up to GTS P3. Sofronas spun from overall P2, making a Cadillac 1-2 as Pilgrim moved up. Mike Skeen (CRP Racing Corvette) held third with Sofronas slipping to fourth.
Baldwin passed Wilkens to take third in GTS before the end, with Aschenbach and Lee finishing first and second. The Top 3 in GT was O’Connell, Pilgrim, and Skeen.
