Texas occult metal band Venomous Maximus will release its new album Beg Upon the Light Oct. 30 via Occulture Records. The rock music is a constant. But this week it’s taken a distinctly Texas twist courtesy of new releases from Houston power pop rockers Ashbury Keys and Austin heavy garage trailblazers American Sharks. We’ll start at the lighter end of the pool. How does that benefit us in this time of dire need? It probably doesn't, but given Halliburton's involvement and the Bush family's Saudi and Kuwaiti ties, it's not hard to imagine who it does benefit.
We made it through Ike OK. Especially compared to so many others who have suffered and lost so much. Sunset, Friday night, Sept. 12, 2008 At 11:36 pm on Friday, Sept. 12 our power went out. Ike still hadn't made landfall. But the amount of water pouring into Galveston via storm surge was already quite frigtening, even from afar. Mandatory evacution orders had been issued long before. That night the wind blew. It blew hard. We lost a small tree in the backyard and four br...
