NHRA: Winternationals - Capps opens season with Funny Car win

Ron Capps raced to his first Funny Car victory in nearly a year Sunday at the NHRA Winternationals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona. Steve Torrence (Top Fuel) and Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) also were winners at the season-opening NHRA event near Los Angeles. Capps had to defeat defending world champion Del Worsham in the final round to take his 46th victory. He outran Jeff Diehl, Chad Head, and Robert Hight in earlier rounds. The 2016 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona marked the debut of the new Ford GT in sports car competition, Chip Ganassi Racing fielding two of them in GT Le Mans (GTLM). IMSA: 24 Hours of Daytona: Tandy fastest overall, Aleshin takes Prototype pole

Russian IndyCar driver Mikhail Aleshin overcame extremely wet conditions to capture the Prototype class pole for the 54th Rolex 24 At Daytona. F1: Abu Dhabi – Rosberg wins third straight to close 2015

Nico Rosberg (Mercedes) won the Brazilian Grand Prix two weeks ago. He started on pole and led the entire race; the same for teammate Lewis Hamilton in second, and more or less the entire top part of the grid. Audi won the first two races of the season, with Porsche winning at Le Mans and every race since to clinch the manufacturers championship.
