The Jibbies & Loond Show - Episode 041 - Baroness, Testament, and Crazy Uncle Dave

As the European festival season winds down, fall releases and US touring move to the fore. Updates on Baroness and Testament’s European road trips precede discussion of Crazy Uncle Dave’s latest rant on US politics from the stage in Singapore and the judge’s ruling in the Kyuss Lives! lawsuit. Loond dissects recent releases from Malice and Lord Fowl and Jibbies explores the greatness and present-day influence of Blue Oyster Cult via their new retrospective box set. Fall releases? How ‘bout Down, Enslaved, the Sword, Neurosis, and Power Trip as just the tip of the iceberg? And tours? In addition to already-announced road work from Gwar, DevilDriver, Cancer Bats, Red Fang, and Black Tusk, J&L pile on with US tours including Converge, Kvelertak, Torche, Valient Thorr, and Tomahawk. Finally respect is given to the rapidly selling-out October European package of Slash and Ginger and info provided on how to give fellow metalhead Ed from Doomantia.com a helping hand.

What I'm Into This Week - East End Of Downtown Houston

I love my barrio…I really do. If you haven’t been to the East End of Downtown Houston…you need to check it out. I live off of Clinton and Gregg. It’s a stone’s throw from 5th Ward and Minute Maid Park. It’s a very historic part of town and the last bastion of development near downtown. A great mix of old and new. You’ve got old warehouses and businesses from yesteryear, lots of industrial and manufacturing companies, and brand new residential developme...

Dave Mustaine is Mentally Ill: Pt. 2

Back in March 2010, I went and saw Dave Mustaine and Megadeth perform and came away with one overriding conclusion: dude was sick in the head. It wasn't anything he said, it was his presentation of the band. Now he's gone and doubled down on his lunacy by stating from the stage that President Barack Obama orchestrated the killings in Aurora, Colo., and Oak Creek, Wisc, in order to "pass a gun ban." Fuck you Dave. And RIP Dime.

Venomous Maximus debuts new track 'Moonchild'

Houston's Venomous Maximus have leaked a track from their upcoming 'Beg Upon The Light' album. Entitled 'Moonchild,' the track picks up VM's dark-yet-rocking vibrations and amplifies them with a production that is bigger and more powerful than ever without undermining Venomous Maximus' essential earthiness. Vocalist Gregg Higgins told Jibbies back in June that 'Beg Upon The Light' is "truly what we sound like in my head. Lots of ideas came up on the spot in the studio this time...

Episode 40 comin at ya. The boys dish on new records, upcoming tours, the ever changing music business in the digital world, and Randy Blythe’s experience in a Czech prison. Loond is beyond excited about the new Testament album entitled “Dark Roots Of The Earth”. Jibbies exclaims his love of the new Nachtmystium record called “Silencing Machine”. Our duo is thrilled at the news of the Gwar/Devildriver/Cancer Bat tour and the Red Fang/Black Tusk tour as well. The guys then chat about a new DIY approach that bands are taking on the internet in terms of funding projects and tours directly by their fans. The show is rounded out by some incredible and refreshing perspective on Randy Blythe’s incarceration in the Czech Republic.
