The Jibbies & Loond Show - Episode 039 - Testament, 'arry, and #FreeRandyBlythe

Jibbies brings tidings of new death metal glory from the great white north, having caught Montreal’s mighty Dark Century in Calgary. Before that, however, our duo extol the virtues of first Testament, via their new album ‘Dark Roots of Earth,’ and Brad Gillis-era Ozzy, via the long-awaited commercial release of the ‘Speak Of The Devil’ live concert DVD. Recorded in Irvine, Calif., a few months after Randy Rhoads’ death, it’s still not the full-Sabbath glory of the Ritz double-vinyl LP show, but it’s damn fine. J&L also ponder what on earth is happening regarding Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe’s on-going incarceration in a Czech prison and the pending release of debut solo album, ‘British Lion,’ from none other than Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris.

Formula 1 2012: Hungarian Grand Prix - Hamilton start-to-finish

The Formula 1 series moved from Germany to Hungary, running on back-to-back weekends heading into its month-long summer break. Practice and qualifying in Hockenheim was marked by rain, with the race occurring in dry weather. This situation was reversed in Budapest, with dust making the track slippery during qualifying and a 100% chance of rain forecast for the race. Lewis Hamilton (McLaren) snagged the pole, with Romain Grosjean (Lotus) qualifying on the front row for the first time in P2 and S...

The Watch Does What It Says On The Tin, And That's OK

There's something to be said about making contact on a fastball over the middle. Let's talk about it on paper: a summer movie about a suburban neighborhood watch program uncovering an alien invasion. An R-rated action-comedy teaming up Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller and Jonah Hill, with comedy-nerd favorite Richard Ayoade thrown in for good measure. The Lonely Island's Akiva Shaffer (who was behind the camera for most of SNL's Digital Shorts) directing a script that was re-worked by Seth Rogen and...

Formula 1 2012: German Grand Prix - Alonso wins his third

Photo: Getty Images Another rainy weekend was waiting for the Formula 1 2012 teams in Hockenheim, Germany, for the German Grand Prix. Fernando Alonso (Ferrari) prevailed to take poll position, with Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull) second, and Mark Webber (Red Bull) third. Webber, however, was assigned a five-spot grid penalty for a gearbox change, ceding P3 to Michael Schumacher (Mercedes) in his home race. Schumi was joined on the second row by fellow German Nico Hulkenberg (Force India). Schumach...
