Hello folks. Aamir and I have started a podcast covering what we love most: HEAVY METAL. The debut episode is attached below. There're a few small technical issues, but that's part of why we did it with just the two of us the first time around. We also wanted to use the first episode to give you, the happy listener, an idea of who we are. Future episodes will feature interview segments with other members of the global metal community (musicians, producers, label folks, fellow fans, promoters, freaks, geeks, losers, kings, saints, sinners, spacemen) field reports, theme episodes....you name it! We plan on doing this every other week from now until the end of time and very much hope you will  join us and spread the word.

See you out there. Horns up m-fers! -- J & L

Music featured this episode:
Sons of Aeon - 'Burden'

Early Man - 'Beware The Circling Fin'

Sword - 'Where To Hide'

C'mon - 'Get On Top'

Halfway To Gone - 'Whiskey Train'

Friday LinkFrogging - 1/28/11

If you build it, they will come. It worked out just fine in 'Field of Dreams' and it seems to be going well as a potential philosophy around here. I only say potential because so far we haven't spent much time philosophizing about what the hell we're up to here at GG HQ. But that's the way it should be. We are you. You are us. If we like it, we're 99% sure you will too. And if you don't, the other 1% does! See how that works. Action, not words. In that spirit, please allow me to introduc...

11 For 2011

I love movies. I always have. I enjoy the experience of going to the movies.  The darkness of the theater.  The story unfolding on the big screen. I also love living in an age where you can catch up on movies you may have missed in the comfort of your own home.  Sometimes that's all the energy you've got. Late last year I started thinking about a group of movies I've never seen all the way through.  You know the kind.  You've seen most, if not all, in p...

An Open Letter to Geoff Johns Regarding Flashpoint

Dear Mr. Johns  I'm sure you get letters like this every single day.  Every fanboy worth his salt has ideas for how to make your mega-events "better." Given what you've been able to do with JSA, Hawkman and Green Lantern, we should all probably just sit back and let you do what you do. Of course, we can't. Everyone has opinions and ideas.  Unlike you, most of us don't have the DC Universe at our fingertips to make our ideas reality. With all that being said,...

Friday LinkFrogging - 1/21/11

POP QUIZ! If you could spend two days locked in your wood-panelled basement playing 'BlackOps' with anyone on earth, who would you choose? Awwww....that's sweet. You'd choose your brother. But we said ANYONE on earth. That's right, look up slowly, take a deep breath, and now decide. We thought you'd come around. This week's cheesecake is none other than gamer-Geek extraordinaire Olivia Munn. If you're a regular viewer of G4 TV you're probably already familiar with Ms. Munn, hav...

A Keith Richards Moment

So I'm reading Keith Richards' autobiography Life. So far so good. Its a good read and now that they've actually formed the Stones things are moving right along. The other morning, as I was getting ready to leave for work, I told my wife that I might leave the book on my nightstand, even after I'm done.  I think the cover is really cool. There's Keith, putting a lighter to another cigarette, his right eye partially obscured by his trademark skull ring.  Just anot...

Friday LinkFrogging - 1/14/11

If its Friday that must mean its time for us to, once again, travel the tubes and see what our merry band of Geeks has located for you. Before we get down to that I want to drop a couple of kernels of knowledge on you. First, Chris will be filling in for me on the LinkFrogging for the next couple of weeks.  I've got some pressing "real world" issues that can't be avoided, so Chris has agreed to take the helm and pilot the vessel to glory.  Much obliged. Secondly, if you wa...

What is it about chick bass players that is so hot? For that matter, I find women musicians in general to be attractive (not just in a physical way). For me it's because the bass guitar is a formidable opponent in stature. As much as the lead guitar is considered a phallic symbol; the bass is a raging monster cock. A woman's hands manipulating said instrument is a joyous sight. There's also something mighty about the bass. It is felt as much as heard. A powerful and heavy tool in the arsenal of ...

Marquee Memories

Starting in August 1986 I had the opportunity to spend several months working at London's Marquee Club at 90 Wardour St. in Soho. In the spring semester of 1986 I had taken a class called the Sociology of Rock n' Roll. I liked it. Especially the field work. So much so that I asked the professor at the end if he'd sponsor me in an independent study for the '86-87 school year further developing some of the themes addressed in the class. After some back and forth we decided that applying negotiated...
