I have a great wife.
She's always looking for fun and exciting things for us to do. They are usually things that I would never think of in a million years and are always excellent ideas.
So, last week she sends me an email with this inside of it and asks me if I think the boys would be interested:
Now, there are a lot of things I don't know, but I know this is looks right in the Wonder Twins' wheelhouse.
My suspicions were confirmed when we showed them the trailer and explained it to them.
So, with our picnic in tow, we headed out to
Discovery Green on an all too rare perfect Houston night.
Shadow of the Bat-Man is the creation of filmmaker
Andre Perkowski. By using public domain silent movies he has created a 55 minute Batman movie with a surprisingly cohesive narrative. With an original score created by and peformed live by Houston's
Two Star Symphony,
Shadow of the Bat-Man was an impressive multimedia experience.
Perkowski used the silent movie footage,including the old Batman serials, to find analogues for most of the Batman characters. From James Gordon to Alfred, they were all there.
His cast of villains ranged from the Joker...
...to Clayface.
There was even a segment of the movie that involved Maxie Zeus which thrilled the boys to no end.
The boys thoroughly enjoyed the experience and it gave us the opportunity to introduce them to a new experience utilizing ideas and characters they were already familiar with.
That is what you call a win-win.
