You know why I like movies?
Escapism.
Is there anything better than sitting down with some popcorn, letting the lights dim and being transported to another world for a couple of hours?
Well, okay, maybe a couple of things come to mind.
Still, you get my point.
Be it hobbits, superheroes, jedis, heroic archeologists, cyborgs or spies, coming face-to-face with your imagination is a genuine experience.
Just last night, I watched JJ Abrams' lens-flary
Star Trek with my kids. They were entranced with the adventure laying itself out before them. Thankfully, they weren't encumbered by decades of continuity-based expectation. They took the movie for what it was and had a blast.
They had a similar response to
Thunderball last month.
They're 9. They're obsessed with spies, among other things.
So, of course, they've been asking about
The Bourne Legacy. They know Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye. They've seen most, if not all of,
The Bourne Identity. They like Matt Damon.
So do I take them to see the Renner driven Bourne sequel?
Probably.
Of course, when/if that happens, I will feel compelled to tell them the scientist is married to James Bond.
I'm like that.

Yes, Ms. Weisz is married to Daniel Craig, the current James Bond. She's also appearing opposite Renner in the new Bourne movie that opens today.
She's all kinda spied-up.
Of course, Ms. Weisz is no stranger to big-time blockbuster franchises having appeared in the first two movies in
The Mummy series.
Did I mention her Oscar? She won one for her role in 2005's
The Constant Gardner.
