The Formula 1 US Grand Prix is happening Nov. 16-18 at the purpose built, brand new Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Tex. We here at GonzoGeek are very excited about this and decided to put together a video special giving some examples of exactly what it is we’re in for.
First off is David Coulthard, former Formula 1 driver (1994-2008; Williams, McLaren, and Red Bull), who spends some time tooling around the at-the-time still dirt circuit and the streets of Austin in a Red Bull F1 racer and very much likes what he feels.
Next up, Ali Putnam updates progress on the Circuit as a whole, and lays out the master plan for what will be a multi-race, multi-entertainment, fully formed entertainment venue for Austin’s future.
And finally, Australian V8 Supercars frontrunner Mark “Frosty” Winterbottom, takes a spin on a paved portion of the track, takes a poke around Austin itself, and gives the whole shebang two thumbs up.
Both V8 Supercars and the American LeMans Series will run at Circuit of the Americas starting in 2013.
