Friday LinkFrogging: 7/27/12
Welcome my friends to another fantabulous edition of the best of the best and creme de la creme from across the Interwebs in another pipin' hot edition of Linkfrogging.

The 2012 Olympic Games kick off today with the opening ceremonies in London where, until August 12, Americans will tune in in droves to watch sports they won't care about for another four years until the next Summer Games in 2016.

Seriously ... gymnastics and swimming are hardly big ratings machines at times other than the Olympics. Am I right?

Considering that all the pageantry and majesty of another Olympics is upon us, it seemed only fitting to make an Olympian selection for this week's cheesecake. Meet Jen Kessy, member of Team USA's beach volleyball squad. She's also appeared in Cover Girl ads (pictured below), and the once-iconic Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue (pictured above) which used to be a MUCH anticipated annual event for pubescent males until... you know... that whole Internet thing caught on.

Miss Kessy isn't just an Olympic-caliber athlete. She's also willing to stand up for her beliefs. She and the rest of the U.S. beach volleyball team have decided to stick with their regular bikini uniforms, despite recent Olympic rule changes to allow nations with concerns about their female athletes being scantily clad on the beach and the famously blustery weather in jolly old England.

"We're not uncomfortable in our bikinis," Kessy told the Daily Mail in London.

And we... appreciate that. Really. We do.

U-S-A! U-S-A!

With no further ado... LINKS AHOY!

More Olympic fun. Kobe Bryant and LeBron James both say that this Team USA basketball team would beat the 1992 Dream Team that included Bird, Jordan, Magic, Barkley, etc. One diligent gamer simulated such a throwdown.

"The Wire" ... Lego style. If someone can find John one of the Omar mini-figures that's in this video, he'll love you forever.

In today's unnecessary expansion Hollywood news, Peter Jackson said he may split "The Hobbit" into three movies, rather than the already-announced and needless two flicks.
