It seems a bit early to be saying that, right? I mean, after all, it’s only Memorial Day. All Hallow’s Eve is still five months away. Why the head start? I’ll tell you why (And thank you so very much for asking nicely. Sometimes, people can be rude. They demand answers. Then, they start throwing things. It’s messy business)! Haunted houses are a staple of the Halloween season. Over at one of my other hobbies, I’ve started to learn how much work, effort, and planning (and time, love and tenderness [was that a Michael Bolton reference?]) goes into building a “haunt”. I didn’t even know that they are called “haunts” in the business. In the biz. On a weekly basis, I’ve begun hosting a webseries known as “Cave Haunters”. Cave Haunters is your one and only source for all the information leading up to the 2012 season of the Haunted Appalachian Caverns. Each week, I interview someone about one of the crucial facets of setting up the haunt, and then on most episodes, they are going to teach me some sort of skill involved with the production. This week, I interviewed Rob Metcalfe. Rob is the director of the Haunted Appalachian Caverns. He’s the man in charge, and, if this website is based on “what makes you geek out?”, Rob Metcalfe definitely fits right in. Give it a watch, and make sure to check out last week’s episode, “Sound”. The Haunted Appalachian Caverns open on September 28th and runs every Friday and Saturday night through November 3rd.
