Friday LinkFrogging - 5/11/12
Aw shucky ducky!

It was a simple exclamation from an excited grandmother during a Little League game, but somehow it made my whole week better.

The grandson in question had already gone yard, putting his team up 3-0.  During the "shucky ducky" at bat, he came up again with the bases loaded.  Now, if this were a sports movie, Granny would have let it fly after her grandson dropped a second bomb, this one a grand slam.

Instead, Granny made my week on the first pitch which was a ball low and outside.

Yup, it was the elusive 1-0 "aw shucky ducky."

Yesterday was just magical like that.  In addition to my transcendent ballpark moment, we got word that your favorite GonzoGeek's have once again been approved for press credentials to Comic-Con.  The Geeks will be heading to San Diego in July to bring you the big news on all things Geek media and we couldn't be happier about it.

And, to top it all off, this week's cheesecake selection was another easy one.

Say hello to Eva Green.

Ms. Green first hit our radars in 2003's The Dreamers.  Then, in 2006, she gained geek immortality by becoming a Bond girl, specifically Vesper Lynd in the first Daniel Craig Bond, Casino Royale.

She's back in theaters today playing Angelique Bouchard, the witch who is responsible for the undeadness of Barnabas Collins in Dark Shadows.

While I'm not a devoted fan of the original Dark Shadows, I do have some memories of the neighbor girls watching it in syndication while they babysat us.  It was funky, even at a time when funky was the norm.  I'm not sure what to expect out of the Burton/Depp version that is opening today, but I don't expect much.  The trailers have disappointed me and I fear for the box office of Dark Shadows in the long shadows of The Avengers.

Still, as you can see from the pictures, the inclusion of Ms. Green can't hurt.  Right?

And, since we're such thorough Geeks, we're going to offer one lucky reader a chance to compare and contrast the two versions of Dark Shadows if they so choose.  Thanks to the good folks over at MPI Home Video, we have a copy of Fan Favorites from the Dark Shadows - The Greatest Episodes Collection to give away.  The DVD contains 9 complete episodes from the iconic television show that was the basis for the new movie.
