Friday LinkFrogging - 3/30/12
April 1, 2012 looms large in the world of geek.

Not only is it April Fool's Day, that annual celebration of practical jokes and hoaxes, but this year it also brings us two titanic geek-centric events.

What might those be you ask?

Well, let's see.  First, there is Wrestlemania XXVIII (that's 28 for those of you who don't speak Roman) and the return of HBO's Game of Thrones.

Both are epic in scale.  Both are rife with duplicity and backstabbing.  Both feature larger than life warriors fighting it out to wear the crown and/or belt.  Both have dwarves.

How similar in theme are..."To be the man you have to beat the man" and "When you play the game of thrones you win or you die."

Okay, I had no idea how well all that would work when I started writing it.

The other thing Mania and Game of Thrones have in common?  Babes.  Lots and lots of babes.

Hell, the WWE has an entire division of "allegedly" enhanced Amazons who entertain with their antics and skills on a weekly basis.

The ladies of Game of Thrones, while perhaps not as surgically sound, are equally devious.

So, that left me with a dilemma this week.  Which way was I to go with the cheesecake?  I could feature a WWE Diva or I could feature one of the ladies of Westeros.  Which was it to be?

John and I both agreed that Emilia Clarke aka Danerys Targaryen would be a good choice.  Alas, other than a very popular picture of her "riding Dothraki" from Season 1, I couldn't find the requisite photos to fill out the feature.

Never fear, upon further investigation it appeared that the correct choice lay not in the hinterlands, but rather beside the throne itself.

Please say hello to Lena Heady.

Ms. Heady plays Cersei Lannister, the Queen Mother on Game of Thrones.  In addition to being the mother of the boy king, she is also the real power behind the throne.

Ms. Heady's geek bonafides are strong.  In addition to Game of Thrones, she's also appeared in 300 as Queen Gorgo.  She is the voice of both Mystique and the Black Widow on the animated Super Hero Squad Show.  And, perhaps dearest to the hearts of fanboys everywhere, she stepped into Linda Hamilton's combat boots to take over the role of Sarah Connor in Terminator:  The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

According to IMDB, she was also in a MacGyver TV movie and Remains of the Day.

So, you have a choice to make on Sunday night my brother geeks.  Choose wisely and enjoy yourselves.
