Salt Lake City-based heavy rock duo Eagle Twin have completed their anticipated sophomore LP, The Feather Tipped the Serpent’s Scale, for release through Southern Lord later this year. The new Eagle Twin opus, their first full album in 3 years, picks up right where the band’s acclaimed debut LP The Unkindness of Crows left off. A split LP with the UK’s Pombagira was released in late 2010. In this installment the crows documented in the first album have battled the sun and were burned back down to earth as black snakes. The album then chronicles the snake and its various mythic and symbolic incarnations. Ultimately the great ancestral snake is transformed from its lowly beginnings back into a bird soaring upon the thermals. The band returned to London Bridge Studio and once again worked with Randall Dunn (Boris, Kinski, Sun O))), Earth). Eagle Twin features guitarist Gentry Densley of post-hardcore/jazz icons Iceburn and the percussion of Tyler Smith formerly of Form of Rocket. During 2009 and 2010 Eagle Twin toured and performed stateside and abroad alongside labelmates Earth, Sunn O))), Pelican, The Accüsed and countless others, including stops at SXSW and multiple The Power of the Riff shows. Further touring is in the works surrounding The Feather Tipped the Serpent’s Scale.
