This week finds the return of The Lego Movie
to your local cineplex, but is everything still awesome?
Maybe I'm putting too much on a movie based on plastic building blocks, but that song promises a lot that I'm not sure has been delivered on.
Since the first movie was released in 2014 a lot has changed, including a change in marital status for the man behind Emmet Brickowski.
Oh, and there is the whole seemingly insurmountable idealogical divided in our country.
Maybe we can combine a couple of issues by combining Legos and the ongoing wall debate to make everyone happy.
Hell, I don't know.
Let's talk about something we can all agree on...cheesecake.
This week's hostess is starring in The Lego Movie 2
and celebrating a birthday this week. Not that we'd need a reason to feature her again, but, well, with two you give the universe what it wants.
Please say hello, again, to Elizabeth Banks.
Ms. Banks is the voice of Emmet's plastic love interest, Lucy.
Here's a fun fact. Ms. Banks is the 6th highest grossing actress of all time with her movies raking in $2700-million. I'm too tired to figure out how many zeroes that is. That puts her ahead of Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Lawrence, Sandra Bullock and Emma Watson in the top ten.
I guess appearing in the first Spider-Man
trilogy, The Hunger Games, Pitch Perfect
and the Lego Movies
has worked out okay for her.
You can see her soon in another Charlie's Angel
reboot. According to IMDB, she'll be playing Bosley. That should be interesting.
Let's hit the links.
