Well, that put a wrap on January. Well, at least for our purposes.
In a week that found the nation still gridlocked and Oscar nominations announced, it just seems like things are just out of sync.
Priorities are out of whack.
We've lost the basic ability to communicate in anything approaching civility.
I don't know why, but its happened.
Sometimes the best you can do is something you enjoy and dive in. For me, that's comics.
I've read them for decades. A great story will still draw me in. Fascinating artwork brings me joy.
Great adaptations bring me joy.
That's exactly how I felt earlier this week when I saw Spider-Man: Into the Universe
I honestly wasn't sure what I thought about the project when it was announced, but after seeing it for myself, I can't recommend it highly enough.
The movie works on every level...story...artwork...adaptation.
At the heart of the story is Miles Morales and his friend and fellow Spidey-type, Spider-Gwen.
Spider-Gwen is voiced by none other than this week's cheesecake.
Please say hello to Hailee Steinfeld.
Since her 2010 debut in the Coen Brothers' True Grit
, Ms. Steinfeld has worked steadily, mostly in the Pitch Perfect
movies. She's also appeared in genre fare like Ender's Game
She's also put together an impressive second career in pop music making several appearances on the Billboard Hot 100.
